Thread Vein Removal frequently asked questions

Thread veins, also known as spider veins or telangiecstasia, are small dilated blood vessels that appear close to the skin’s surface, they are commonly found on the face and the legs. Often they develop due to factors such as genetics, aging, hormonal changes, pregnancy, prolonged standing and sun exposure.

Most clients describe a mild discomfort, like a pricking, stinging or burning sensation. It is short lived and generally quite tolerable.

We recommend a course of three sessions, improvements may be seen after one treatment however for best results always, a course would be recommended.

Initially you may experience temporary redness, swelling and mild discomfort at the treatment site. Within a day or so you may notice the treated area looks a little darker, like cat scratches, this is quite normal and is the coagulated, dried up blood within the treated vessels (more common on legs than face). Potentially some small water blisters could occur but this is rare as we as we cool the skin after an area has been treated. If any blisters were to occur some temporary marking or blemishes may remain on skin temporarily but again this is rare.

Results of thread vein removal typically become noticeable gradually over several weeks to months as the treated veins fade and are absorbed by the body. Individual response to treatment may vary

Laser treatment to thread veins can significantly reduce or eliminate the appearance of thread veins, however new veins may develop over time, especially if underlying predisposing factors are not addressed. Maintenance treatments may be necessary to sustain results over the long term and these are charged at a reduced rate and should not be required for quite sometime once you have completed a course.

Most patients can resume normal activities immediately after thread vein removal, although some may experience temporary redness, swelling, or bruising at the treatment site. Avoiding strenuous activities, sun exposure, and certain skincare products may be recommended for a period following treatment.

Certain medical conditions, medications, and lifestyle factors may affect candidacy for thread vein removal. It’s essential to undergo a thorough consultation with a qualified healthcare provider to assess eligibility and discuss potential risks and contraindications.

Patients may be advised to avoid certain medications, supplements, or skincare products that could increase the risk of bruising or bleeding prior to thread vein removal. It’s also essential to stay hydrated and follow any pre-treatment instructions provided by the healthcare provider.

You may experience some slight discomfort during the treatment, small areas can be treated followed by an interval and some skin cooling and gel can be applied to the treated area to help alleviate the discomfort.
